Liquitard®
Liquid formulations of drug compounds are an effective and convenient dosage form for pediatric and geriatric patients, and also for patients that may experience difficulties in swallowing capsules and tablets.
Eurand's Liquitard® technology produces a formulated particulate that can be filled into a monodose sachet. When poured into water, the granules rapidly become a ready-to-use homogenous suspension. This suspension can contain microencapsulated taste-masked medicine and/or an advanced controlled release drug formulation. A wide range of flavors can also be included to further enhance this convenient dosage form.
This technology can be used to create both temporary and semi-permanent suspensions. As an alternative, a Liquitard product can be mixed with, or sprinkled on, food (e.g., applesauce) for further convenience of administration.
