The Eurand Minitabs® technology combines the simplicity of tablet formulation with the sophisticated drug release control offered by multiparticulate drug forms.
How it Works
Eurand Minitabs are tiny, approximately 2mm in diameter, cylindrical tablets containing gel-forming materials that control drug release rate. In addition, functional membranes may be applied to the tablets to further control release rate. The small size of Eurand Minitabs means that they can be filled into capsules as a final dosage form. As a result, combination products can be developed, allowing two or more drugs or release profiles to be present in a single capsule. Eurand Minitabs offer high drug loading, a wide range of release rate designs, and fine tuning of these release rates. The capsules can be opened and the contents used as a "sprinkle" formulation.
