Sr. Analytical Group Leader

Education:

  • Familiarity with current scientific developments in the field of drug analysis (eg, development and validation of analytical methods, biopharmaceutics, etc).
  • PhD in Analytical Chemistry or Biopharmaceutics is highly desired.

Professional Experience:

  • If PhD, at least five years industry experience post completion of the PhD studies.  Otherwise, minimum 15 years of relevant industry experience in drug analysis (analytical methods, development and validation).
  • Experience in drug development process, manufacturing scale up, knowledge of the regulations which apply (GLP, GMP, etc) and familiarity with industry issues.
  • Management/supervisor experience.
  • Expertise in drug product degradation and impurity identification. 
  • Participation in project teams (as team member or team leader) and familiarity with principles of project management.

Languages:

  • Fluency in English is essential.

Location:

  • Vandalia, Ohio 

The Role:

  • Supervise and mentor analytical team of at least four chemists.
  • Provide technical expertise to the entire analytical department.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and supervise (both from the technical and the administrative perspective) work of the analytical group.
  • Ensure all activities are conducted according to the product development plans and comply with all applicable SOPs and regulations (GLP, GMP, etc).
  • Supervise generation of appropriate documentation related to development and validation of analytical methods; approve documentation when required.
  • Collaborate with other groups within Pharmaceutical Development to ensure required analytical support is provided efficiently to the development of new formulations.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary project teams working to develop internal and/or external compounds; collaborate with other team members to ensure achievement of project objectives. 
  • Identify and assess novel methods and technologies which can be used to overcome analytical issues and/or improve success of new formulations; implement relevant methods and technologies in agreemenet with company strategy.
  • Maintain state-of-the-art scientific/technical knowledge and disseminate scientific information within the group.
  • Mentor junior team members and help identify areas of weakness to address through training.
